Our shop is down at 4662 Ajmeri Gate, which is a place that never really stays quiet for long. If you know this part of the city, you know how the traffic and the people just keep moving from morning until night. We have been running Top Tools from this spot for years, and the walls are pretty much covered from floor to ceiling with hooks for every kind of tool you can think of. It is not the kind of place where you come to look at pretty displays. Instead, you come here when you need a specific screwdriver or a heavy-duty wrench and you want to get it quickly. The floor is made of old concrete and has plenty of scuffs from people dragging heavy boxes around. We spend a lot of time just organizing the drawers because things have a way of getting mixed up when we are busy. Sometimes the light in the back flickers, but we know where everything is even in the dark. We mostly deal with the local contractors and the people living nearby who are trying to fix something in their own homes. It is a straightforward business. We show up, we answer the phone, and we help people find the right size tool for whatever job they are doing. It gets hot in the summer, so we usually have a small fan blowing behind the counter while we work through the daily orders.
