Singh Grinding Industries

You can find Singh Grinding Industries over at 8/A in Anand Parbat, right on Gali No 9. It’s a busy little area where there’s always the sound of metal hitting metal. We specialize in grinding work, which means everything in here is covered in a fine layer of dust most of the time. It’s hard to keep the place clean when you’re working with these kinds of machines. I started working here when I was nineteen, and I haven't really left since. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be careful about where we put everything so we don't trip. We have a few heavy grinders that take up most of the floor space. During the day, it gets quite loud, so we usually wear earplugs, but you still feel the vibration in the floor. People bring us parts that need smoothing down or sharpening. It’s satisfying to see a rough piece of metal turn into something smooth and shiny. We don't have any fancy brochures or a sales team. If someone needs grinding done, they usually just hear about us from another shop in the lane. We’re just regular people trying to do a good job so we can go home at the end of the day. There’s a small tea stall at the corner of Gali 9 where we usually go for a break when we can find the time. It's just what we do.
