If you look for Gali No. 10 in the Anand Parbat Industrial Estate, you will find our shop at P-2. It is not the easiest place to navigate because the streets are narrow and always full of trucks. We have been here for a long time now. The noise of machines is just something you get used to after the first week. We deal with tools and metal parts all day long. My hands are usually stained with oil and grease by ten in the morning. That is just part of the job. We don’t have a big corporate office or people in suits walking around. It is just us and the heavy iron. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the estate and we just sit outside and talk until it comes back on. Dealing with machine tools requires a bit of patience because everything has to fit just right. If it is off by a hair, it won’t work. We spend a lot of time checking the measurements over and over. The heat in the summer gets pretty bad under the tin roof, but we have a couple of fans that move the hot air around. People from all over the estate come to us when they need a specific tool or a replacement part. We know most of the neighbors by name. It is a tough way to make a living but it is what we know how to do.
