Rajni Sharma

My name is Rajni Sharma and my office is in the Western Wing of Tis Hazari, room 216. If you’ve ever been to this complex, you know how confusing the hallways can be. I still get turned around sometimes if I take a different staircase. This room has been my second home for a long time. The walls are a dull shade of cream and they’re covered in stacks of folders that I really should sort through one day. I have a small window that looks out over a courtyard where people wait for their cases. It’s never quiet here. You can hear the constant murmur of voices and the sound of heavy footsteps in the corridor. I usually bring my own lunch in a tiffin because I don’t like the food at the canteen much. My desk is a mess of blue pens and rubber stamps. Sometimes I lose my glasses under a pile of affidavits and spend ten minutes looking for them. It’s just me working here most of the time. I handle the daily filings and answer the phone when it decides to work. The building is old, so the pipes rattle and the lights flicker occasionally. It’s not a polished environment, but it’s where I get my work done. People know where to find me when they need something processed.
