N S Mechanico

Our place, N S Mechanico, is situated in Anand Parbat at Plot No 45, Gali No 30. We are right by the railway line, so the whole building shakes a bit whenever a train goes past. It’s a mechanical workshop, and it looks like one. There’s grease on the walls and the floor is stained with oil. We work on various mechanical components and machinery parts. The lanes in Gali 30 are very narrow, so it’s always a struggle if we have to move anything large. We have a few old lathes and some heavy welding equipment. It’s not a place for anyone who doesn't want to get their hands dirty. We don't have any secretaries or fancy office furniture. Usually, we are just wearing our overalls and working on whatever job is on the bench. The area is quite old and industrial, which means it can be a bit dusty and loud. We’ve been here for a good number of years now. We drink a lot of tea from the local stall to keep us going through the day. We don't do any big advertising. People in the trade know where we are. It’s a basic, functional workshop. We just do our work, close up the shutters at night, and come back the next morning. It is a hard job but it keeps us going despite all the noise.
