We’ve been here for a long time, working through all sorts of weather. Most days it’s just the sound of the machines running and the smell of metal. It isn’t a large showroom or anything like that. It’s a workspace where we get things done. We usually start early before the sun gets too hot because the shop can get pretty warm by noon. There’s always scrap lying around that needs clearing. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. People bring us all kinds of cutting jobs. We don't talk much while working because you have to pay attention to what you're doing. Safety is just something we do naturally, not a policy we talk about. The floor is always covered in shavings no matter how much we sweep. It’s hard work, and our hands are usually stained by the end of the shift. We’ve got a small tea stall nearby that keeps us going.
