Our office is on the ground floor of the World Trade Centre at 14 Connaught Place. Being in the middle of CP means we deal with a lot of noise and people walking by our windows all day long. It’s a big, solid building that feels very different from the factory floors where our machines actually end up. Here in the office, we handle the technical side of things and the paperwork that comes with moving industrial equipment. There are usually diagrams spread out on the desks and people arguing over parts or delivery dates. We spend a lot of time on the phone with technicians or talking to people who use these machines to make shoes and other rubber products. It isn't a place with a lot of decorations; it’s mostly just desks, computers, and files about machine specifications. Sometimes the coffee machine breaks down and that’s the biggest crisis of the morning. We get people coming in from all over to talk about their manufacturing needs. It’s a lot of technical talk about injection molding and cycles. Even though we are in a fancy-sounding place like the World Trade Centre, the work itself is very practical and down-to-earth. We just focus on the logistics and making sure the right parts get to the right places. It’s a steady pace of work that keeps us busy from nine to five every day while the city moves outside.
