Kailas Carpet Co.

Kailas Carpet Co. is located at 11-F in Connaught Place. Being in CP means we are right in the middle of everything. It’s an old building, and you can feel the history when you walk in. We don’t have those bright, shiny lights you see in the newer malls. It’s more of a quiet, steady place. The floors are a bit worn from all the feet walking over them for years. We spend our time going through the different piles of carpets. Some are heavy, some are light. Every morning we open up and sweep the front. The noise from the inner circle is always there in the background. It’s just part of being here. We aren't interested in being a big corporate entity. We are just a local company in a famous spot. People come in from all over. Sometimes they just want to look, and that’s fine. We don’t follow people around the shop. We let them take their time. The carpets are stacked high, so sometimes we have to move five things just to show one. It keeps us busy. We like the routine of it. CP has changed, but our little corner at 11-F stays pretty much the same. It’s a bit cramped with all the inventory, but we like it that way. It feels like a real workplace where things actually get done. We just sell carpets and try to keep things simple every day.
