We are tucked away in Gali Kalekhan, over in Kucha Chellan in the Darya Ganj area of New Delhi. The address is 2684. If you’ve ever walked through the lanes of Darya Ganj, you know how narrow and busy they can get. It’s a lot of history in these old buildings. We’ve been operating from here for a while now. It gets crowded outside, especially during the day when everyone is out and about. Inside, we just have our desks and the usual stuff you’d find in a place like ours. It's not a modern glass building or anything like that. It’s an old-school spot in a part of Delhi that’s always moving. The noise from the street filtered through the windows is just part of the background now. We work on the daily news paper here. It’s a lot of sitting and typing and talking. We don't have a big reception area. You just walk in and we are there. The 110002 pincode is one we know by heart. It’s a cramped space but it works for us. We are used to the rhythm of this neighborhood. The staircase leading up to our floor is quite steep and the lights are a bit dim in the hallway. You have to watch your step. We have stacks of old papers in the corners that we haven't gotten around to moving yet. They kind of just become part of the furniture after a while. The fans overhead make a clicking sound that you stop noticing after the first hour. It’s a busy life working on a newspaper in Darya Ganj. There's always someone coming in with a story or a complaint. We just take it all as it comes.
