Down here at Jasch House in Krishan Nagar, things move at their own pace. Being in the Dev Nagar area of Karol Bagh means the streets are always crowded. You can hardly move a car through the lanes most afternoons. We have been in this building, 5105/1, for a long time. It is an old structure with high ceilings and heavy doors. Our office at Jasch Industries Ltd. feels a bit like a maze sometimes. There are files stacked on desks and the sound of keyboards clicking all day long. We have a routine where someone goes out for tea every morning around eleven. The stairs are narrow, so we have to be careful when moving boxes up and down. Outside, the sounds of the market are always there in the background. You get used to the shouting and the horns after a week or two. Some of the staff have worked here for twenty years and they know every creak in the floorboards. We don’t have any fancy decorations, just some old clocks and a few plants that we try to keep alive. It is a steady place to work. Usually, we finish up around six, unless there is a lot of paperwork left. Then we lock the big gate and head home through the crowd. The walk to the station takes about ten minutes if the market isn't too blocked up with stalls and people.
