Manilal & Bros

Our shop is at No. 6 in Chawri Bazar, which is one of the oldest and busiest parts of the city. If you know Chawri Bazar, you know how narrow the lanes are and how much is going on at every corner. We’ve been here as a family business for a long time. The name on the sign is Manilal & Bros, and we take that history seriously, even if we don't talk about it in a fancy way. Our space is small and crowded with all sorts of things, but it’s been our home for years. You have to navigate through crowds of shoppers and laborers just to get to our door. It’s loud, it’s dusty, and it’s always moving. We don't have any big mission statements or marketing plans. We just open the shutters in the morning and see who comes by. Sometimes we spend the whole day just talking to old friends who have been buying from us for decades. We drink tea, look at the ledgers, and handle the orders as they come. It’s a traditional way of doing business that you don't see much anymore. We don't use computers for everything; sometimes the old ways are just easier for us. It’s a bit chaotic, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Chawri Bazar is in our blood and we stay until the evening.
