Amit Kumar

My place is located at 265 in Tis Hazari. It’s a bit different from the spots right on the main road because it’s tucked further into the block. I’m Amit Kumar, and this is where I do my daily work. The building is quite old and has that specific smell of old paper and dust that you find in this part of town. I have a small room on the second floor. The stairs are narrow, so I have to be careful when carrying anything big up there. I’ve got a couple of wooden chairs for visitors and a desk that’s way too big for the room, but it holds everything I need. The window doesn't open all the way because the frame is warped, but it lets in enough light so I don't have to keep the fluorescent bulbs on all day. I usually spend my mornings catching up on messages and my afternoons dealing with whatever comes through the door. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to the street, which I appreciate when I need to think. There is a small tap in the corner that drips sometimes, and I’ve put a plastic bucket under it. It’s just me here most of the time, though a cousin comes to help out on Fridays. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living, and the location is convenient for most of my regulars.
