We are over in Simri village in the Buxar area. Samim Ansari is the main contact person for Sahajanand Mushroom Farmer Producer Company Limited. As the name suggests, we spend a lot of our time dealing with mushrooms. It’s a bit different from the usual crops people grow around here, so it takes a bit of extra care. We have our little setup in Tola Simri where we manage everything. Growing mushrooms is delicate work, and we are still learning new things every day. We aren't some big industrial factory. It's more of a community effort. People in Buxar are starting to get used to seeing us around. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. We just focus on the growing part and then try to find places to sell them. The office is just a simple place where we keep our records and Samim handles the phone calls. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when a batch is ready and we have to move it fast. Bihar can get really hot, which isn't always great for mushrooms, so we have to be careful. It’s a lot of trial and error. We are just a group of locals trying something a bit different to help our families. If you ever pass through Simri, you’ll likely see us working away in the sheds. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s ours.
