New Ratabarda Kisan Producer Company Limited is situated right at the Jawati Kala Choraha in Bundi. We are easy to find because we are right near the grid station on the road to Khatkhad. This is a real kisan or farmer-led group. We spend most of our time out in the heat or at the collection point when the tractors start rolling in. The office is just a place to store some records and have a cup of tea while we talk about the rains. Around here, the weather dictates everything we do. If the monsoon is late, everyone is on edge. We work with the local farmers in the Bundi area to pool our resources together. It is a lot of physical labor, moving sacks and checking the quality of the grain. We don't have a polished look or a big fancy sign. The building is functional and a bit worn down from the dust and wind. There is always a lot of chatter at the choraha, so it’s a lively spot to be based. We handle the logistical side of farming, which isn't always fun but it is necessary. Our goal is just to keep the operation moving so the farmers get paid and the crops don't sit around too long. It’s a straightforward life with a lot of sweat involved. We don't pretend to be something we aren't; we are just local folks working the land.
