Shiv Potteries

Shiv Potteries is located right on G.T. Road, not too far from the telephone exchange. It’s a busy spot because of all the traffic passing by, but it makes it easy for people to find us. Our place is basically a mix of a workshop and a storage area for all the pottery we handle. There’s almost always some clay or dust on the floor, no matter how much we try to sweep it up. Working with ceramics is a bit of a messy business, but that’s just how it is. We spend most of our hours either checking the kilns or making sure the finished pieces are packed safely so they don't break. It’s a physical job and our hands are rarely clean. We aren't a big high-tech factory; it’s more about the work we do with our hands and the simple tools we’ve had for years. The noise from G.T. Road can be a bit much in the afternoons, but we’ve learned to tune it out. Sometimes we have a lot of orders to get through and other times it’s a bit slower, giving us a chance to catch up on maintenance. We don't have a lot of fancy marketing or a shiny showroom. It’s just a practical place where we do what we know how to do. We’ve been here a long time and the locals know us pretty well as just regular folks working.
