Jayanti Darshan Vidya Mandir

You can find Jayanti Darshan Vidya Mandir over in Shivkunj, which is in the Mullani part of Bulandshahr. It’s a bit of a trek from the main city center, which makes it a quieter spot for a school. The building is called Shivkunj and it sits right there among the local houses and some greenery. We’ve got a set routine that starts early. The air in Mullani is usually a bit fresher than in the middle of town. We have classrooms set up with basic furniture. Nothing is very new, but everything is kept in working order for the students. We spend a lot of time on the basics of reading and writing. The teachers live nearby mostly, so everyone knows each other’s families. It creates a certain kind of atmosphere where you can’t really get away with much. We have a small yard where the kids gather for morning assembly. Sometimes a stray dog wanders in and we have to shoo it out before things get started. The walls have some old posters on them, maybe a bit faded from the sun coming through the windows. It’s a simple school for the local community. We don’t have a website or anything like that; people just know where we are and come talk to us at the gate. Bulandshahr has a lot of these smaller schools that just do their job every day without much fuss and keep the kids busy while their parents are working in the fields or in town for the day.
