Blue Water Salon

Main Road in Bemina stays pretty busy throughout the day with all the traffic. The shop is right there at the Main Chowk, so we see everything that happens in this part of Srinagar. The view outside is mostly cars and people rushing to work. Inside the shop, it is much quieter than the street. We started this place because we knew this area well and there was a need for it. Blue Water Salon is just the name on the board, but most people around here just call it the shop at the chowk. We have a few chairs and they are getting a bit old and worn out now. The mirrors have some spots on them from age but they work fine for a haircut. In the winter it gets very cold in Srinagar so we have to keep the door shut tight to stay warm. In the summer, the breeze from the main road brings in a lot of dust and grit. We spend a good amount of time every day just cleaning the glass and the counters. People come in for a quick trim or a shave before they head out. We don't do anything too complicated or fancy. It’s just us working here from the morning till late in the evening. Sometimes we stay open a bit longer if a regular customer shows up late. There’s a small tea stall nearby so we get our tea from there twice a day. It’s a very regular life.
