Located at Survey No:129/P, we are just behind Hotel Samrat near the Butiya Bridge. We’re right off the Mahuva-Bhavnagar Highway in Bhadroad. This is where we handle the dehydration process for different foods. It’s a dusty, busy spot. The machines are running most of the day, making a constant humming sound that you get used to after a while. We get a lot of onions and garlic coming in from the surrounding farms in Bhavnagar district. Our job is to get them peeled, sliced, and dried out properly. It’s a lot of steps and requires a lot of people working on the lines. The smell of onions is very strong here; you can’t really escape it. We have a big yard for the trucks to park in. Sometimes the highway traffic makes it hard for them to turn in, but they manage. We started small and just kept adding more equipment over the years. It’s not a fancy office job. We are out on the floor most of the time, checking the dryers and making sure the temperature is right. If the weather is too humid, it makes our job a lot harder. We just work with what we have and keep the production going. Most of the folks working here are from the village nearby. We know each other well. It’s steady work and we take it one day at a time.
