Our shop is number 170 in the Mahatma Gandhi Complex. It’s right near the New Bus Stand, so there’s always people rushing around and the sound of buses pulling in and out all day. Being in the Municipal Shopping Center means we are right in the middle of the local trade. We work with dehydrated foods and various spices. The smell around our unit is pretty strong—usually a mix of garlic, onion, or whatever we are processing that day. It sticks to your hair and clothes after a while. We spend a lot of time drying things out and then packing them up into bags for our customers. It’s a lot of manual work, sorting through things by hand and making sure the seals are tight. The office is just a small corner with a desk and a couple of chairs for when people stop by to talk business. We don’t go in for anything fancy or polished. It’s just about getting the spices ready for the market. Some days the heat is a bit much, but that’s part of the dehydration business. People know us because we’ve been in this complex for a while. We aren't a big corporation, just a local outfit doing what we do best. It’s loud, it’s spicy, and it’s home for us. We just get through the orders and wait for the next bus to rattle by.
