Gupta Traders

Gupta Traders has been a fixture near Gandhi Chowk in Ambikapur for quite some time now. We’re right in the heart of Surguja, which means it’s always busy around the shop. I handle a bit of everything here, mostly general trading items that people need for their daily lives or small projects. It’s a bit of a crowded space, with boxes stacked up to the ceiling in some spots. I like being near the Chowk because there’s always something happening outside. People stop in while they’re out running other errands. I don’t have a big team, just a couple of family members and myself helping out. Sometimes we run out of something popular and have to wait for the next truck to come through Surguja, which can be frustrating for the customers. I just tell them how it is. We try to keep things honest and simple. My father started this, and I’ve just kept it running the same way he did. It’s not about being fancy; it’s about having what people are looking for when they walk through the door. The floor is a bit worn down from all the foot traffic over the years, but I think it gives the place character. It's just a local trade shop doing its thing. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to provide what the neighbors need. I spend most of my day behind the counter.
