Pragati Snacks & Namkeens

If you walk down towards 103 Gandhi Nagar in Lalgarh, you will find where we make everything for Pragati Snacks & Namkeens. It usually smells like fried spices and flour around here. We start pretty early in the morning to get the first batches ready. It gets quite hot in the kitchen area, especially during the summer months in Lalgarh. We have a few big pans going and some tables for packing. We do not use any high-tech machines, mostly just doing things by hand like we always have. The bags get filled and sealed one by one. It is a lot of repetitive work but it feels good when the shelves are full. Neighbors often pop their heads in to see what we are making today. We do not have a big marketing team or anything like that. Word just travels around Gandhi Nagar. Sometimes we run out of certain items faster than we expected. Then we have to scramble to make more. The floor is usually a bit dusty from the flour, no matter how much we sweep. It is a busy little place. We do not have much time for fancy talk or business plans. We just focus on getting the salt and spice levels right for the namkeen. It is a local business and we are happy staying that way. The bags are stacked high by evening and then we start all over again tomorrow.
