Out here in Bhujodi Village, things move a little slower than in the big cities of Kutch. Our place at No 2/1 is where we handle the mineral side of things. It’s a dry area, and the dust is just something we live with every day. We spend most of our time sorting through raw minerals that come in from the local sites. It’s heavy work, and the sun can be really brutal in the middle of the day. We have a small shed where we keep the samples and do the grading. Most of the guys working here are from the nearby villages, so we’re all pretty close and talk about the local news while we work. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or corporate goals. We just need to make sure the minerals are sorted correctly before they get loaded onto the trucks. Sometimes the equipment breaks down because of the grit, and we have to spend the whole morning fixing a belt or a motor. It’s a very hands-on type of business. You won't find us in suits; we're usually in work clothes and heavy boots. We’ve been in Bhujodi for a long time, and we like the way things are. Often, the truck drivers stay for a bit to have water and chat before heading out. It’s simple, honest work that keeps us busy from sunrise until the evening. We just focus on the rocks and the dirt.
