Shree Ram Minerals

The GIDC area in Madhapar is where we spend most of our time. It’s a dusty part of Bhuj, but that’s just how it is with minerals. Shree Ram Minerals has been operating out of here for years. We deal with various raw materials that come in from the Kutch region. It’s heavy work and the sun is usually beating down on the yard. There’s always a truck backing in or leaving. We have a small cabin where we handle the paperwork, but mostly we are out checking the heaps. The wind blows the white dust everywhere, so everything has a thin layer on it. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything. People who need minerals know where to find us in the GIDC blocks. The guys working here have been with us for a long time. We know the local landscape and what kind of earth comes from where. It’s not a clean job, you go home covered in grit every day. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait around, talking about the weather or the local news. Lunch is usually brought from home and eaten together in the shade of the main shed. We just try to keep things moving. There isn't much to say about it other than it’s what we do. It’s quiet in the evenings once the trucks stop coming. We keep a simple log of what goes out and what comes in. It's basic but it works.
