Hotel The Crown is situated out at Venkataraya Pur, near the Bantu Gram post. It’s a bit outside the main city of Khurda. Finding the place can be a little tricky if you aren't looking at the signs carefully. We have our mobile number, 09437284223, listed because sometimes the landlines act up in the rain. The hotel itself is a solid building, but we’re always fixing something, whether it’s a tap or a light bulb. Working here means you meet a lot of travelers who are just passing through the district. Our lobby isn't huge, but it has enough space for people to sit while they wait for their keys. The kitchen starts early in the morning, so you can usually smell breakfast cooking by six. We don't have a bunch of fancy uniforms; we just wear what’s comfortable and clean. It gets pretty dark out here at night, which is nice if you like seeing the stars. The staff mostly lives in the nearby villages, so we all know each other well. We don't do much in terms of big advertisements. People just show up, and we find them a room. It is a very basic way of doing things, but it has worked for us for a long time now. We just try to be helpful when we can.
