Goodwill Public School

You can find Goodwill Public School out on Nandan Kanan Road in Kalarahanga. It’s a bit of a drive from the center of Bhubaneshwar, but the area is much quieter than Patia. We are quite close to the zoo, so we sometimes hear the animals if things are still enough in the morning. The school building is older and has a lot of character, even if it needs a fresh coat of paint here and there. We have a big yard where the kids play, and it gets quite dusty in the dry season. When the rains come, it’s a different story with all the mud. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just ceiling fans that hum all day long. The staff is made up of people who have lived in Kalarahanga for a long time. We know the local shopkeepers and the families who live down the street. It’s a very traditional setup. We don't use any corporate jargon or talk about missions and visions. We just open the school every morning and teach the kids what they need to know. The school is a basic, no-frills place where the focus is on getting the work done. Parents appreciate that we are straightforward and don't try to sell them on things they don't need. It’s just about providing a decent education to the local children.
