Sapthsathi Organic Agricultural Project

Our project is based at Plot No. 9, Atithi Niwas, which is right across from the C 21 Mall on Hoshangabad Road. Being near Barkatullah University and Misrod makes it a busy area, but once you step inside our gate, it’s all about agriculture. We deal with organic farming supplies and coordination. There’s usually a bit of a smell of earth or dried plants around the place, which is better than the car exhaust from the main road. We spend a lot of time talking to farmers and people interested in growing things without all the heavy chemicals. Our storage area is full of sacks and samples that we’re constantly checking. It’s not a very formal environment. We sit around the main table and discuss the planting seasons or what the latest harvest looks like. Sometimes we have visitors from the university who want to see how we do things. We don’t have a big marketing budget or a fancy showroom; it’s mostly just us working through the logistics of getting organic products to where they need to go. The office gets a bit messy with all the soil samples and folders, but we manage. We’re just a group of people who care about the land and want to make sure the food being grown is as natural as possible. It’s slow work, but it feels right.
