M.S Fly Ash Bricks

Down in Chatrapati Shivaji Colony, things are always a bit busy. We are tucked away near Gulmoher Colony in the Trilanga area. It’s a bit different from the traditional red brick yards because we use fly ash here. The yard is usually grey from all the powder, and the machines make a lot of noise throughout the morning. We’ve got a small crew of guys who show up every day to mix the stuff and press it into shapes. It's dusty work, and you definitely need to wear a mask if the wind starts blowing too hard across the open spaces. My desk is usually covered in a thin layer of grit by noon. People driving through Trilanga sometimes get confused about where we are, but once they see the grey stacks, they know they've found the right spot. We don't really do much advertising, mostly just folks stopping by because they saw a truck leaving or heard from a neighbor. The rain is a bit of a pain because it turns everything into a thick sludge, so we have to cover the finished blocks with old tarps. It’s not a glamorous job, sitting here watching the press go up and down all day, but it fills the time. We drink a lot of water and try to stay out of the direct sun when we aren't loading. It's just a regular local business doing what needs to get done in this part of the city.
