Khaderi Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our little company is called Khaderi Farmers Producer Company Limited and we operate out of Batiagarh. Specifically, we’re at Ramprasad’s place—he’s Beniprasad’s son. In a place like Khaderi, everyone is connected one way or another. We started this because we realized that as individual farmers, we weren’t getting much done. Now that we’re a producer company, we can talk to the bigger buyers with a bit more weight behind us. We aren't business experts by any means. We’re people who know how to plow a field and read the clouds. The office is just a room with a desk and some chairs where we keep our files. Most of our real work happens outside in the heat. It’s a tough way to make a living, but it’s what we’ve always done. We don’t have any fancy mission statements. We just want to make sure we can afford seeds for next year and maybe a little extra for the kids’ schooling. Sometimes the meetings get a bit loud when we’re all trying to agree on something, but we always figure it out together. It’s a community thing more than anything else. Batiagarh is our home, and we want to see the farmers here do well. We don't need much, just fair weather and a bit of luck with the soil. Every day brings a new challenge, but having this group makes it feel a lot less lonely when the crops are struggling or the market is down for the season.
