Being a government institution, things work a certain way here. There is always some kind of form to fill out or a register to sign. The building has that old look you expect from a state college. We have a lot of students coming in from the nearby villages and smaller towns in the Rajgarh district. They usually arrive by bus or walk from the main road. The campus is a bit spread out and we have to do a lot of walking ourselves between the blocks. It gets quite busy during the admission season, with queues of people waiting near the office windows. We don't have all the latest gadgets, but the classrooms have what is needed to get through the lectures. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just carry on with the windows open for light. The staff room is usually full of files and people drinking tea while they discuss the upcoming exams. It’s a very practical environment. There is no point in pretending it is something it isn't. We just provide the space for the local youth to get their degrees. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we are used to the rhythm of the academic year by now. Everything moves at its own steady pace.
