Government Girls College

Working at Government Girls College is always an experience because there is never a dull moment. The campus at Government Girls' College stays busy from early morning until late afternoon. You hear the sound of bells ringing and students talking in the hallways pretty much all day long. The building is older, with high ceilings and those big windows that let in a lot of light but also a bit of the heat. We spend a lot of time in the staff rooms or walking between the different blocks to check on things. It is a government-run place, so there are plenty of forms and registers to fill out every single day. The furniture is the sturdy, wooden kind that has been around for decades. You can see where generations of students have passed through by the wear on the staircases. We do not have any fancy lounges or modern art on the walls, just notice boards covered in schedules and exam dates. During the rainy season, the sound on the roof is so loud you can barely hear yourself talk. It is a place of routine and hard work, where the focus is just on getting through the syllabus and making sure the day goes according to plan. It feels like a small community inside those walls, even though it can get quite chaotic when the semester starts up again.
