Working in the Bhilwara Textile Market area means there is always something moving around us. Our place in Sitaram Market is where we keep all the heavy poles, big rolls of colored fabric, and the stacks of plastic chairs. It is a physical job and our clothes are usually a bit dusty from handling all the gear. When there is a wedding or a big party nearby we are the ones loading up the trucks early in the morning. We have to make sure the fabric isn't torn and that we have enough lights for the whole setup. It is hard work especially when the sun is out and we are trying to hammer stakes into the ground. After the party is over we go back late at night to pack everything up again. The shop itself is more of a storage space than anything else. There are piles of carpets in one corner and boxes of decorative flowers in another. We have been doing this for a long time so we know how to set things up quickly even when the space is small. People come to us when they are planning something big and we just tell them what we have available for those dates. It is not a glamorous job but seeing a big tent all lit up at night feels good when the work is done.
