If you head over to Plot 301/19 in Gidc, right across from Nani Khodiar, you will find us. Rutu Foods is where we do all our cooking and packing. The smell of whatever we are making that day usually drifts out into the street, which I guess is a good way for people to find the place. It's a busy kitchen, really. We have large vats and packing lines that take up most of the floor space. Everyone wears caps and aprons, and we try to keep things as tidy as possible, though it gets hectic during the morning rush. We started this because we wanted to make food that tasted like what you get at home, nothing too fancy or processed. Most of our workers live nearby, so it feels like a bit of a family affair in the back. We spend a lot of time checking the bags and making sure the seals are right. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend an hour fixing a belt, but that’s just part of the job. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything. We just make the food, pack it into boxes, and load the vans. It’s hard work on your feet all day, but seeing the stacks of finished products ready to go out makes it feel worth it. We just keep at it, day after day, trying to get the orders filled before the delivery trucks arrive.
