Marine Tech Maritime

Down at the Alang Ship Breaking Yard, the air always smells like salt and old iron. Our place, Marine Tech Maritime, is right in the thick of it. We spend our days surrounded by these massive ships that have finally come to the end of their journeys. It is a strange place to work if you aren't used to it, with all the cutting and the heavy cranes moving around. We mostly look for parts and equipment that can still be used again. Sometimes we find things that are almost new, and other times it's just scrap. It’s a dirty job and our clothes are usually covered in grease by noon, but that is just part of being in Alang. We don't have a polished showroom; our inventory is mostly spread out in the yard or kept in simple sheds. People from all over come here looking for specific marine valves or engine parts that they can't find anywhere else. We know the history of these ships and it feels good to see parts of them go back out to sea on other vessels. The work is physical and you have to be careful where you step. It’s not the kind of job you do if you want to stay clean, but we like the honesty of it. We’ve been part of this yard for a long time now and we're not going anywhere.
