Gramin Bangla Krishi Kalyan Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited is a long name for a small group of us here in Bharatpur. We operate out of Kalam Sekh’s place, he’s Baktar Sekh’s son, over in the Mosjidpara neighborhood. It’s a local community effort more than a typical company. We’re all farmers from around the village who wanted to help each other out with the agricultural side of things. Our "office" is really just a spot near the mosque where we gather to talk about the fields and the weather. There’s no fancy signage or reception desk here. Most of our days are spent out in the dirt, and we only come together at Kalam’s to handle the boring stuff like filing papers or counting the collective funds. Bharatpur is where we live and where we work, so it made sense to keep the business right here. We don't have any glossy brochures or a big mission statement written on the wall. We just want to make sure the local crops are healthy and that we get a fair shake when it's time to sell. Sometimes the paperwork is a headache, and we'd all rather be out in the sun, but it’s part of the job. We're just a bunch of guys from Mosjidpara trying to look after our families and the land we’ve always known.
