This is where we work for Steel Authority Of India Limited in the Balasore district. We’re located at Gagan C Barik’s place, under the care of Sanatan Barik. It’s in a spot called Ria, near Simulia. It’s quite different from the big city offices you might see. It’s more of a home setting that we use to keep the local operations running. Being out here in Odisha, the pace is a bit slower, which isn't always a bad thing. We handle the coordination and the paperwork that comes with the steel trade in this area. It’s pretty quiet, mostly just the sound of the wind or the neighbors going about their day. We don’t have a big corporate lobby or a receptionist. If someone comes by, we just pull up a chair and talk. The office is simple with just the basic stuff—desks, a few chairs, and our files. Sometimes the power goes out when it rains hard, so we just wait for it to come back on. We know the people in Simulia and they know us. We are just regular folks doing a job. It’s a practical way of working. We don’t have any fancy signs or big speeches. We just keep track of the shipments and make sure the records are right. It’s a steady kind of work that doesn’t need much fuss. We just get on with it every day and try to keep things in order.
