Prabhakarvuram

Berhampur is a place where things move a bit slower than the big cities, and we like it that way. Our address is in Ajodhya Nagar, on the 4th Line. It’s in Orissa, postcode 760010. Prabhakarvuram is the name we use for the business. The 4th Line is a residential area mostly, so it’s not like we are in the middle of a noisy market. It’s a brick-and-mortar kind of setup. We don't have a glass front or a neon sign. Usually, people find us by asking around or just knowing the family. The office is really just a part of the building where we’ve set up some tables and chairs. It’s where the bills get paid and the work gets sorted. There isn't any corporate speak here. We talk like normal people and we treat our work the same way. The weather can get quite hot in Berhampur, so the ceiling fans are always humming in the background. We’ve been here in Ajodhya Nagar for a long time, so we know the local rhythm. When the mail comes, it’s usually for us or the neighbors we’ve known for twenty years. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don’t have a mission statement on the wall. We just have a calendar and a to-do list. That’s enough for us to keep going every day from this little corner of Orissa.
