Inspiration Clothes & U

Being out here in the Kssidc Industrial Estate in Yelahanka means we are surrounded by a lot of noise and dust most of the time. Our unit, B-23, is just like the others on this row. We’ve got the metal shutters that we roll up every morning at eight. It’s a large open space inside where we keep the machines and the cutting tables. Inspiration Clothes & U has been operating from this spot for quite some time now. Most of the people working here live nearby, so there’s a lot of chatter about local news while we work. The air gets a bit thick with lint sometimes, so we keep the fans running even when it’s not that hot. It’s practical work. We spend our time looking at seams and checking the weight of the cloth. Lunch is usually eaten together in the corner where we’ve put a couple of old chairs and a table. It’s not the quietest place to work with all the other factories nearby, but you get into a groove. Some days the truck for the deliveries is late and we end up sitting around on the finished crates waiting. We don’t mind too much because it gives us a chance to catch our breath. We just focus on getting the piles of clothes sorted and out the door. It’s a straightforward way to earn a living in this part of town.
