I work out of No 33, which is on the 1st Cross in Gopalappa Layout. This is in the Hebbal-Kempapura area of Bangalore. It’s a decent spot, though the traffic around Hebbal can be a real headache in the mornings. The office is part of the SL Kirloskar IT services setup. We aren’t a giant tech firm with bean bags and free organic lunches. It’s more of a traditional workspace where we sit at our stations and get through the tickets and data. Being a team member here means you learn to be patient. We have a lot of work that involves IT enabled services, so it’s a lot of screen time. The building is tucked away in a residential layout, so it’s actually quite peaceful once you get inside. We have a small break area where we talk about the weekend or the latest cricket scores. It’s a very down-to-earth environment. Nobody is wearing suits or trying to act like they are in a boardroom. We just wear our regular clothes and focus on the tasks at hand. Sometimes the work is repetitive, but we have a good group of people here who make the time pass quickly. Bangalore is full of places like this, small hubs of people just keeping the tech world moving behind the scenes. It feels good to be part of something that actually functions properly without a lot of unnecessary noise or drama.
