I have lived and worked at 14 Seshadripuram Ramakrishna Street for as long as I can remember. Seshadripuram is a very central part of the city, and Ramakrishna Street has its own unique charm despite the growing traffic. My office is basically a front room of my house that I converted many years ago. It is filled with old wooden cabinets and stacks of papers that I need to go through. I never cared for a polished, corporate environment because that is just not who I am. People come here when they need some practical help with their documents or advice on local matters. I usually sit in my favorite old armchair while we talk. My nephew comes over a few times a week to help me organize things, but otherwise, it is a solo operation. We don't have any big signs out front, just a small plaque near the gate. The neighbors often stop by just to say hello or to borrow a tool. I spend a lot of my time reading the newspaper and keeping an eye on the street. It is a slow pace of life compared to the rest of Bangalore, but it suits my age and my way of working. I prefer the face-to-face interaction over talking on the phone or using the internet. If you walk down Ramakrishna Street, you will likely see me sitting near the window with a cup of tea in my hand.
