Varadarajan M S is situated at 1 and 2 Sampangiram Nagar. We are up on the 4th floor of the Vokkaligara Bhavana building, which is right by Hudson Circle. This is a very central part of the city, so there is always a lot of government and legal activity happening around us. Being on the 4th floor means we are a bit away from the immediate noise of the circle, but you can still hear the city moving below. The building itself is quite well-known in the area. Our office is a simple place with the usual wooden desks and chairs you’d expect. We have a lot of books and papers because of the nature of the work done here. It’s not a modern glass-and-steel kind of office, but it has a solid, old-school feel to it. Hudson Circle is a landmark, so it’s easy to tell people where we are located. The elevator in the Vokkaligara Bhavana sometimes takes a minute, but it gets you there. We spend our days here going through files and meeting people who need our help. There’s a certain routine to being in Sampangiram Nagar, with the tea stalls downstairs and the steady stream of people visiting the various offices in the Bhavana. It’s a professional but lived-in space where we have been operating for a good long time now.
