Vaishnavi Novelties is located at 37 on the 8th Main, right at the 14th Cross on Avenue Road. This part of the city is always teeming with people, especially on the weekends. We have been here for a long time, right in the middle of all the chaos. Our shop sells all kinds of small novelty items that people need for their daily lives. Because space is tight on Avenue Road, our shop is quite narrow and packed with boxes from the floor to the ceiling. We spend most of the day trying to navigate through the stock to find exactly what a customer is looking for. The noise from the street is constant, with horns honking and people shouting, but we have grown to like the energy of it. We don't have any polished marketing or a fancy storefront. It’s just a regular shop with a simple sign above the door. The 14th cross can get very muddy when it rains, but that doesn't stop people from coming by. We know many of the regulars who have been shopping on Avenue Road for decades. It is a very grounded way of doing business. We start our day by sweeping the front step and getting the lights on. We stay until the crowds finally start to thin out in the evening. It’s a lot of work but it’s what we do.
