Universal Threads

You can find Universal Threads over at C-262 in the Peenya Industrial Area. This part of town is always noisy with the sound of factories and heavy vehicles moving around on the narrow roads. Inside our building, we have rows of machines that handle all the thread work. It’s a lot of manual stuff, actually. We spend most of the day checking the tension on the spools and making sure the colors match up like they are supposed to. The floor is concrete and stays pretty cool, which is nice during the summer months. We have a small office tucked in the corner where the phone rings more than it probably should. It’s mostly people asking about order status or when a certain type of yarn will be back in stock. The staff here has been together for a long time, so we usually eat lunch together in the small area out back. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, which is common in Peenya, so we just take a break until the generator kicks in. It’s a lot of hard work and your hands get pretty tired by five o’clock. We don’t have a big fancy sign outside, just the unit number on the door. It’s an honest place where we focus on getting the crates packed and ready for the morning pickup. There’s always a faint smell of machine oil and cotton in the air.
