Universal Machinery

Our shop, Universal Machinery, is located over in Mahalaxmilayout, right at No. 681 on the 4th Cross. It is a pretty active part of Bangalore, so there’s always a lot of noise coming from the traffic outside. We deal with all kinds of machines and equipment here. It is mostly just a few of us in the workshop area, surrounded by various metal parts and old tools. We started out small and decided to stay that way because it is much easier to manage the work ourselves. People from the local neighborhood often drop in when they have something that needs fixing or if they are searching for a specific machine part they can’t find elsewhere. The space feels a bit cramped because we have so much equipment packed in, but we know exactly where everything is kept. Usually, the floor is a bit oily and there are metal shavings everywhere, which is just what you expect in a machine shop. We spend most of our time on our feet. Bangalore has changed and grown so much since we opened, but we have stayed right here on 4th Cross through it all. We aren't really big on talking or fancy sales pitches; we just prefer to get the machines running again. It is honest work that keeps us busy from the morning until the sun goes down. Sometimes the power cuts out for a while, but we just wait it out and start again when the lights come back to life.
