Udupi Tech

Malleswaram West is where we’ve set up shop, at number 183. If you know Malleswaram, you know it’s got that old Bangalore feel even with all the new shops coming in. Udupi Tech isn’t a huge place. It’s a small space where we deal with all sorts of technical things. Usually, it’s computers or parts that need looking at. The shelves are full of old cables and boxes that we might need one day. It looks a bit messy to an outsider, but I know exactly where everything is. The morning usually starts with a walk to get coffee from the place down the street. Then it’s back to the desk. People walk in with laptops that won't turn on or questions about software. We don't have a receptionist. If the door bell rings, one of us just gets up from whatever we are fixing. The light in the shop isn't great, so we use those bright desk lamps to see the tiny circuits. Sometimes the street gets blocked because of a festival or a market day, and that’s just how it is here. Malleswaram has its own rhythm. We fit into it by being the local spot for tech help. It’s not a high-end showroom. It’s a workspace. We spend more time on our stools than standing up. It’s quiet work, mostly, unless something really breaks.
