Transport Corporation

This is Transport House, right at 57/58 in Kalashipalyam New Extension. If you know the 2nd Cross, you know it’s a hub for all kinds of movement in Bangalore. We’ve got trucks coming in and out at all hours of the day and night. It gets dusty, and the noise of the engines is something you just get used to after a week or two of working here. We spend most of our time staring at ledgers and talking to drivers who are tired from long hauls across the country. The office is functional, mostly just desks and stacks of delivery notes and receipts. We don't have any air conditioning, just some old fans that creak while they spin. It gets the job done though. People come here when they have goods to move across the state or even further. We don't do anything fancy with marketing or branding; we just answer the phone and tell people where their crates are. Sometimes the paperwork gets a bit messy during the rush, but we always find what we’re looking for eventually. Bangalore traffic makes things slow, so we spend a lot of time waiting for arrivals. It’s a bit of a rough-and-tumble business, but it’s what we know. My cousin helps out with the loading sometimes when we’re short-handed. It’s just a regular workplace for regular people trying to make a living in the transport world. We stay busy.
