Trainee Caption

This is the office for Trainee Caption. We are located in a place called Thalambu Odai in Karuppur, which is in the Omalur area of Salem district in Tamil Nadu. The address is actually just the name of the owner, A. Ponnu Samy, and the local spot. It’s a very rural area. You won't find any big glass buildings or paved parking lots here. We work out of a small building that’s been here for years. It’s a bit hard to find if you aren't from around here. We do training and some captioning work, hence the name. It’s mostly just a few of us sitting around some old laptops. The power goes out quite often in this part of Salem, so we have to plan our work around that. We have a lot of trees around the office which keeps it a bit cooler than the town. We don't have any fancy signs or a reception desk. People just walk in and talk to whoever is sitting closest to the door. We started this because there weren't many jobs in the village and we knew a bit about computers. It’s not a big business by any means. We just take on whatever work we can find and try to do a decent job with it. We spend our breaks outside in the shade. It’s a simple life. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to make a living.
