Thomas Cook India Limited (Forex)

Down here in Thottippal, Thrissur, things move a bit slower than the big cities, but we stay busy with the forex work. The office is over at Pulikkathara H, which is a familiar spot for people living around here. We handle a lot of currency exchange and travel money stuff. People come in when they are planning trips or need to send something. It’s just a small team of us working the counters and doing the paperwork. Kerala weather can be unpredictable, so some days are quiet when it rains hard, and other days we have a line out the door. We aren't in a big glass tower. It's just a local branch where we know most of the faces that walk in. We see people when they are excited for a vacation or stressed about a business trip. Dealing with exchange rates means we have to pay attention to the details, which can be tiring by the end of the day. We have a small tea break at four o'clock which is usually the highlight of the afternoon. The chairs in the waiting area are a bit old, but they do the job. We keep a stack of old magazines on the table, though nobody really reads them anymore. The office doesn't have much decoration, just the stuff we need to get the job done. We help with the forms and make sure the cash is counted right. It is straightforward work.
