Thirupati Silks

If you come down to 24 Koramangala VI Bk Old Wadaj, you’ll find Thirupati Silks. The shop is filled with stacks of fabric and the smell of new clothes. We’ve been around this part of town for a long time. It’s not like those big shopping malls where everything is shiny and cold. Here, it’s a bit cramped because we try to keep a lot of variety on the shelves. You might see us unfolding sarees for hours just to find the right shade of green or red for someone. The lighting isn’t perfect, but it’s bright enough to see the weave of the cloth. Koramangala is always moving, but inside the shop, things feel a bit more grounded. We spend a lot of time talking to folks who have been coming to us for years. My hands get a bit rough from handling the silk and cotton all day long. We don’t have a website that works very well, so most people just walk in through the front door. Sometimes the fans overhead squeak a little when it's really hot out. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so you might see one of us eating lunch in the back corner while the other watches the counter. We just like fabrics and making sure the stock is decent.
