If you’re looking for Thirumalai Kumaran Farms, you have to find your way into Nagarathpet. We are located in Pillappalane, at number 41401. It’s one of those classic old Bangalore areas where the lanes are so narrow you can barely fit a bike through them sometimes. It’s always packed with people and carts moving goods back and forth. Even though the name says farms, our base of operations is right here in the heart of the city’s trade district. It’s a bit ironic, really. We spend our mornings dealing with agricultural matters while surrounded by concrete and old brick buildings. The air here is thick with the smell of spices and old wood. Inside the office, it’s a bit quieter, but you can still hear the shouting from the market outside. We have a few old desks and some benches for people to sit on while they wait for their paperwork. It’s a practical space, nothing more. We don’t spend money on fancy furniture because we’re too busy making sure the farm side of things is running smoothly. Most of our day is spent on the phone or writing down numbers. It’s a bit of a maze getting here, but once you know the way, it’s not so bad. We’ve been part of the Pillappalane landscape for a long time now, just doing our thing as Thirumalai Kumaran Farms.
