The Western Electric & Scientific Works

We are located right near B. D. High School in Ambala Cantt. It’s an old area and we’ve been part of it for a long time. The Western Electric & Scientific Works is a bit of a long name for what we are, which is really just a bunch of people who like fixing and making things. Our workspace is full of odd tools and parts that have been gathered over many years. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we know exactly where everything is hidden. Most days are spent hunched over a workbench with a magnifying glass or a soldering iron. We deal with a lot of scientific instruments and electrical bits that need a steady hand. The school bells ring out several times a day, which usually tells us when it’s time for tea or when we should be wrapping up. People come to us with things they can't get fixed elsewhere. We don't promise miracles, we just put in the time to see if we can get it running again. It can be frustrating when a part is missing or something is just too old to salvage, but we usually find a way around it. The air in the shop smells like oil and old metal. We like it that way. It’s quiet work for the most part. We don’t do much advertising; people just seem to know we are here by the school. It stays busy enough for us.
